Competition

By Lady Harken

Some would've considered it boring and lonely, living in a castle where most of the other occupants were monsters or other creatures with a lower level of intelligence. There were other vampires around, of course, although Dracula considered a lot of them to be more of a bother than company. The issue was that many vampires were attracted to power, and those had the bad habit of challenging him. Considering his power, any vampire would only find themselves serving him quite quickly, and those who met such a fate tended to not show their faces around him too often.

There were humans serving him too, of course, but most of them chose to avoid Dracula as well. A couple of exceptions existed when it came to humans, like the few of his personal favorites. The two young devil forgemasters serving him didn't fear him, and they were quite willing to spend time around their master's personal quarters.

He sat in the throne room, sipping what looked like wine - it was blood, actually, but with some enchantments. It wasn't like anyone who ever saw him could tell. He wasn't there by himself; he was able to amuse himself by watching the two forgemasters practice. They tended to be more or less equal when it came to physical fighting, both had their strengths and weaknesses.

"Don't think you can beat me that easily, Hector!" Isaac called from the other end of the room after evading an attack. He spun his spear and dashed towards the other young man, going in for an attack of his own. Hector laughed and blocked it with his sword then sidestepped and went in for a strike, which Isaac in turn dodged.

An outsider wouldn't have been able to tell if they were serious or not, although Dracula knew better - or rather, knew why the two of them were so competitive. Both had the need to show their lord that they were the best - that, and the two also had the bad habit of deciding their relationship in bed with this.

Either way, it was a pleasure watching them compete like that. There were only a few humans he tolerated, and these two brought some life to the cold halls of the castle, reminding him that perhaps he didn't need to kill all of humanity. A few exceptions willing to serve him might be worth sparing after all. Perhaps, or maybe it was just that those two reminded him of himself when young and and he was getting sentimental.

The battle continued for a while longer, with both of them getting some attacks in, neither really gaining the upper hand. The fight could have gone on for awhile, but Dracula noticed the smirk on Isaac's face. The redhead had something in mind.

"What, out of breath already, Hector?" He taunted, swirling his spear around. "Come on, give it your best shot."

Hector laughed. "You wish. Fine, if you insist, we can finish this already. Prepare yourself!"

The two strengthened their weapons with magic in preparation for a final strike, and Dracula chuckled. Those two were enthusiastic as always, although he still had the feeling Isaac was up to something, and his instinct was never wrong. The duel would certainly end here, but how, that was to be seen.

The duel ended with the two face to face. Hector had the slight upper at hand, his sword blocking Isaac from slicing his throat open as both held their weapons to the other's throat. "It's your loss," Hector stated triumphantly, not that either of them had really lost yet. Isaac simply grinned and pretended to drop his spear, then suddenly spun it and hit Hector on the knees, causing him to lose balance. Hector manage to counter and strike the spear out of the other man's hands while he fell, but he also lost his weapon and they both ended up unarmed.

They both ended up on the floor and wrestled for a little bit until Hector got the upper hand and pressed the redhead down. "Admit already, you lose," Hector repeated.

"Maybe so," Isaac replied, slumping down for a second. Dracula smirked as he saw Hector prepare for another attack, but instead, the other man slipped his hand lower on the white-haired man's body and grabbed him by the crotch. With Hector surprised, Isaac flipped him off of himself and down against the floor, ending up as the one on top. "But I can still claim the prize in the end can't I?"

Hector was about to say something, but at this point Dracula saw it as a good time to clear his throat and remind the two of his presence. "A fine duel," he said. "Fine pastime as well, but if you're going to continue to the claiming prizes part, I recommend we move to the bedchambers."

The devil forgemasters grinned and got up from the floor, bowing to their master as Dracula stood up from his chair.

END.
