Snowfall

By Lady Harken

"Sorry, we've closed- Oh," Kazuki caught himself and smiled as he saw who had entered Rakuen. He continued cleaning behind the counter, and Soushi stopped to lean on the wall near the door. "Although guess I need to apologize anyway, we're out of coffee, if that's what you were after."

Soushi chuckled at that. "How unfortunate. You can make me coffee when we get home, though. I can wait that much."

"Home?" Kazuki glanced over his shoulder. "You're here just to walk home with me? Feeling oddly romantic today?" He appeared way too amused at his own comment, and Soushi gave him a bit of a stare.

How was walking someone home romantic, anyway? Soushi rolled his eyes at Kazuki's teasing, but he also mentally admitted he was too reserved to consider much anything romantic. "Don't get the wrong idea. It's just that I heard you've been holed up here the whole day," he explained. Kazuki looked away, and Soushi smirked. "I figured. It's a good thing I had the foresight of stopping by your house to pick up this." He held up a jacket which he had been carrying.

"Well, it was a busy day here," Kazuki tried to defend himself. He took off his apron and walked around the counter. "I haven't exactly had the time to go anywhere all day." Soushi just kept smirking as he opened the door and stepped out, holding the door open for Kazuki to follow. "Mr. Mizoguchi's been taking care of the deliveries, and with the upcoming holiday plans and everything, I've seriously been stuck here all day," Kazuki went on with his explanation. "What about it? You're one to talk to me about working too... much." He trailed off at that point, looking around.

The scenery was turning pale white, and small snowflakes danced around in the wind around them. "Huh. When did it start snowing?" Kazuki asked, walking around in a circle and turning around to look at the area around them. "And when did it get this chilly?"

Soushi closed the door behind him then stepped closer. "A few hours ago. Here," he said as he handed the jacket over. "I'm not dragging this around for you for no reason."

"Practical as ever," Kazuki admitted as he returned to where Soushi stood, took the jacket and got it on. "I suppose I owe you that coffee, then. Shall we?" He flashed Soushi a bright smile as he reached to him and took his hand, pulling him along to walk away from Rakuen.

"...What are you doing?" Soushi questioned.

"Having a romantic walk home," Kazuki cheerfully replied.

Soushi still wasn't getting this whole 'romantic' thing, but the snow kept falling around them, and Kazuki's hand felt warm. His practical side told him he should've brought gloves, but in the end, he made no move to let go of Kazuki's hand.

END.
