ShadowBy ElminaThere was something in the room that seemed somehow familiar. Was it a major thing, or something minor? Kain simply couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe it was just something in the bedroom, although it did seem to be... close. Whatever it was, it was what had awakened him. He opened his eyes and looked around in the darkness. He could barely see anything, but there didn't seem to be anything unusual in the room. Yet, the feeling wouldn't go away. He sat up and tried to push the sheets away, but they were entangled around him. He looked to the side and blinked; there was someone next to him, someone who... "...Cecil?" He asked quietly, surprising himself as the name escaped from his lips. He reached out for his companion - but the other man moved before Kain's hand touched his shoulder. "What is it, Kain?" Golbez asked, looking at the Dragoon. "Can't sleep?" Kain stared at him for a moment and then shook his head. "No, it's not that, Sire. I... No, forget it. I must have been dreaming." He lay down and covered his eyes with his arm, trying to clear his head. Cecil was not here. Why would he be? Cecil was a traitor. Why on earth would he ever even want Cecil to be here? "Is that so," Golbez replied after a while. He smiled and moved closer to pet Kain's hair. "Let's not worry about it then. Sleep now." "Yes, Master Golbez," Kain mumbled. He felt slightly better now; it was like whatever had been bothering him had disappeared. Yet, in the back of his mind, something kept nagging to him as he crawled closer to Golbez and fell asleep in the other man's arms.
