Interlude

By Lady Harken

The sun had not started setting just yet; the warmth of the evening sun lingered in the room, providing enough light for the single occupant of the room. Thus, he had not needed to turn of the lights yet.

Günter glanced outside for the tenth time in the last fifteen minutes and sighed. The evening was clear and peaceful, but he couldn't help but to worry.

Your Majesty... Why do you always have to come up with those silly ideas?

They had stayed at the Walter Castle for several days now. There had been a couple of important meetings that had required Yuuri's presence, and then there was of course more paperwork. Thus, it was quite understandable that the young Maou had wanted to get away for at least a short moment, and he had managed to do just that. After sorting out papers for a couple of hours around noon Yuuri had announced that he needed fresh air. Günter had of course agreed at first; it wasn't a good thing for the boy to sit inside all day.

Yuuri had, however, gotten the bright idea that he wanted to get out of the castle for at least one night. Before anyone had had the chance to say anything, Yuuri had, in his usual cheerful way, told them that he wanted to go camping. Günter's first reacting had been stunned silence - and before he got a word in, Wolfram had already cut in and said that if Yuuri was going, he would go too. Gwendal had just sighed; Conrad had volunteered to go with them and see that everything would go fine.

There was really nothing Günter could have done. He objected of course, but Yuuri had silenced him quite fast. The weather had been excellent for a couple of weeks, and what could he say to keep Yuuri from going, anyway? The Maou's decision stood, and the three had left four hours ago. Günter would have wanted go to as well, but Wolfram had glared at him quite angrily for even suggesting it.

So the trio wasn't actually farther than somewhere in the forest behind the castle, but Günter just couldn't help it. He was worried and hadn't gotten anything useful done ever since they had left.

I can't help it though... he thought, stopping to look outside again. Did you... go because you wanted to spend a moment alone with your fiancée? But... He closed his eyes and sighed again. I shouldn't worry so much. Conrad's there, so nothing can happen to you... nor could you... do anything... ...inappropriate...

He glanced outside shortly then picked up a book he had been reading for an hour now. He sat on his bed wearing only a white nightshirt; so the sun hadn't set yet and it was nowhere near the time to go to bed, but he had decided to call it a night. There was a reason for this; he had talked to Gwendal shortly after Yuuri had left the castle after the other mazoku found him walking back and forth outside, worrying and mumbling to himself. Gwendal had suggested that he would go and find something to read to get something else to think about, and he had reluctantly agreed.

That alone wasn't enough to send him to spend time alone reading, but there was someone in the castle who sure could persuade him - if that was the right word for it. Günter had wandered around the castle for a while before he gave in and went to search for a book to read. He had of course just ended up staring at the bookshelf, unable to pick up anything, until Anissina had showed up. She had suggested that since he was obviously feeling so useless, he could come help her test something. At that moment, Günter had grabbed the first book he saw on the shelf and answered that he was feeling unwell and it would be better if he spent the rest of the day in his room, resting.

He concentrated on the book again although he had found out quite fast that this particular book was not much help in taking his mind off of His Majesty's wellbeing. It was a romance novel; a well-written one and interesting, he had to admit, but it was about the relationship between a young dark-haired prince and a blond servant boy who had fallen in love with him. Günter had no idea what such a book was doing in Gwendal's castle, but he guessed it might have belonged to Anissina. Still, the characters of the story reminded him of certain people, and he continued worrying.

Oh, Your Majesty... You wouldn't do anything dangerous, right? Conrad's there, but...

Günter put down the book once again and glanced at the window, wishing he had actually known where the trio was. He noticed that the sun had started to set now and stopped to turn on the lamp on the nightstand then spent a long moment staring outside yet again. Yuuri had sworn that they wouldn't wander out too far, but he had no way of knowing where exactly they were.

He'll be back tomorrow morning and return to his duties. Yes. Everything is just fine and Conrad and Wolfram will take care of him. I hope...

He shook his head and returned to the book, determined to stop worrying for just a while. That didn't prove to be an easy task; the story had just advanced to a point where the two main characters admitted their love for each other and ended up in bed. Günter continued to read for another page, and although he didn't wish to admit it, he was finding the book more interesting than he had originally thought. He couldn't read the sex scene without blushing bright read; even worse, he couldn't stop his mind from wandering into the gutter from just the sheer idea of Yuuri and Wolfram doing something like the characters in the story.

"...Such impure thoughts..." he muttered to himself. It would be improper for Yuuri and Wolfram to do such things before they were married. It was sin enough for Günter himself to share his bed with Gwendal sometimes, and he didn't even want to consider Yuuri committing such acts. The scene he was reading was more detailed that he would have ever wanted to see, but he just couldn't put the book down. He wanted to know how the story ended.

There was some noise in the corridor outside, but Günter didn't pay any attention. He found himself very bothered and embarrassed by the details of the story, but he couldn't stop reading...

...Until someone suddenly slammed the door open and then closed it as fast as it had been opened. Günter froze and just stared at the person who had entered, feeling suddenly horribly guilty, like someone had caught him from doing something forbidden.

The intruder was however paying no attention to what Günter might have been feeling. It was of course Gwendal who, for some reason, looked like he had run around the castle for a couple of times.

"...Oh Gwendal...? Where did you go..." called a female voice from somewhere outside. "Huh, I'm sure he was here just a moment ago. Where could he have gone? Come on now, Gwendal... I need your help to test the..."

"Hide me," Gwendal managed to whisper, panting. "She's at it again, and I don't even want to know what that crazy invention of hers would do. Just... please, Günter? Hide me somewhere, fast!"

Günter blinked then stared at the man for a moment. "...I... um..." He finally realized that Gwendal sure wasn't here to catch him from doing anything but rather escaping from something he had himself managed to avoid earlier. He heard Anissina calling Gwendal again in the corridor.

"...Get your coat and shirt off and come to the bed?" he heard his own voice saying. He did realize he wasn't thinking too clearly as he placed the book on the nightstand and moved to make room for Gwendal. "I mean... if you were here and we... she wouldn't..."

"A little early to be doing such things but..." Gwendal mumbled as he moved to the bed, working to get his coat off. He glanced at the door while dropping the coat on the floor then proceeded to hastily remove his shirt. "I don't care if she finds out about us, anything's better than... that!"

Günter would have blushed even a brighter shade of red if it had been possible. Gwendal referring to what they occasional did with the word 'us' made it sound like they were lovers in the serious sense of the word, just like the characters in the book. Nobody knew about him and Gwendal; no one knew that they were doing anything, but he suddenly found himself thinking about what exactly were they doing.

We... us? I... goodness, what am I doing? Are we...?

He didn't get to finish his thoughts as Gwendal pulled the sheets off and lay down next to him, then grabbed him and pushed him down, moving to lie on top of him. Gwendal then pulled the sheets to cover them enough that anyone walking in wouldn't notice that he was still half dressed, and Günter found himself being kissed passionately just a few seconds later.

"...Mmm? Gwen..." Günter managed to mutter between their kissing. His body had an unfortunate way of reacting to the kiss, and he found himself wrapping his arms around the other mazoku while his mind was still too out of it to register anything clearly. He melted against kiss and could only cling to Gwendal as the dark-haired man drew him closer and deepened the kiss.

"Gwendal...?" Anissina's voice inquired in the corridor outside. There was a slight sound of someone stopping by the door and then opening it. "Oh, Günter, feeling any better yet? Have you seen Gwendal? I'm could swear he- oh, my!"

Gwendal broke the kiss on that moment and turned to glare at the door; Günter just lowered his face, feeling way too ashamed to look at the woman. His mind nagged him now about the fact that he sure hadn't thought too carefully about his great idea of where to hide Gwendal.

"Would you mind?" Gwendal snapped, reaching to pull the sheets to cover them both fully now. "Have you no decency?!"

Anissina grinned, then closed the door. "You... could've always locked the door, you know," she commented from the corridor. "But yes, I'll have to apologize. I didn't exactly expect you two to be..." She paused for a moment then giggled a bit. "I'll be going, yes. Guess neither of you are available to help me then... Ah, I mean, good night..."

Neither of them moved for a while; then, after Gwendal was sure Anissina was gone, he moved off of the other man and lay down on the bed. "Thank you... I'm stuck here for now, though, since if I was to leave anytime soon, I'm sure she would still..." He trailed off, then closed his eyes. "And what kind of great idea was this, anyway? Now she'll draw all kinds of conclusions... worse, she might tell mother..."

"I... I'm sorry, Gwendal," Günter said quietly. "This was the first thing that came into my mind. I mean... It's not like you came to my room late at night for any other reason..." He couldn't think of how to finish what he was saying as he suddenly stopped to think about it - what was he trying to say anyway? That he didn't actually mind Gwendal being here?

Well, at least I sure found something else to think about, other than worrying about His Majesty all the time, he thought, almost regretful. Was he really so fanatic about Yuuri that he didn't even think about his own feelings?

"Never mind. As I said, anything's better. I'm not exactly fond of the idea of spending the rest of the evening as a guinea pig. I prefer the company here anyway," Gwendal muttered, relaxing. "As long as you don't mind me being here..."

Günter shook his head. "No, it's okay..."

"What were you doing anyway when I got here?" the other man asked casually. "I hope I didn't interrupt anything."

"Just reading, as you suggested..." Günter answered without thinking. "It kind of worked. I think I managed to stop worrying so much, but..." He blinked as he suddenly remembered what he had been reading. It was too late, though. The moment he turned to look at the nightstand where the book was, Gwendal had picked it up.

"Hmm...? A romance novel? Well then again, this might be something you're into..." Gwendal paused as he read a couple of lines from where it had been left open. Günter felt flushed all over; he then snatched the book from Gwendal, closed it and put it away.

Gwendal smiled a little. "Was that what I think it was? You were reading a..."

"It doesn't matter," Günter mumbled, remembering his earlier embarrassment over the idea of someone catching him reading such things. "The book was, uh... Well it is a romance novel. The characters were... lovers and... they were... Something wrong with that?"

"No, nothing wrong," the other mazoku answered. "I'm personally not interested in reading about it, but it's not like it was something I hadn't seen before. Or rather, done..."

"Gwendal!" Günter turned away and pressed his face against a pillow to hide his burning face. "That... It's not decent to talk about... what we... It's not like we were..."

"Lovers?" Gwendal completed for him. "What are we, then? Why would I care about anyone finding this out if it was nothing more than a casual relationship? Have you perhaps..." He trailed off again, and if Günter had been looking at him, he wouldn't have noticed that he sure wasn't the only one feeling embarrassed. Gwendal took a deep breath, then continued. "...Have you missed the fact that I've... said I... love you... when we...?"

Günter turned to look at the dark-haired man. It wasn't that he had never heard it; more like, he hadn't ever stopped to think about it. "You... what? Gwendal, I..."

Gwendal stared at him for a moment then raised his left hand and grabbed Günter behind the neck. "...Ah, damn it all..." He pulled the other closer and locked his lips against Günter's. It was all he could do anymore; he couldn't think of anything to say that wouldn't have confused Günter even more. He wasn't so good at talking about emotions in the first place, so showing what he meant would have to be enough.

There was little Günter could do either. The kiss stole his breath, and he couldn't resist - not that he would have wanted to resist. He closed his eyes, unable to think straight. It didn't really matter; there was only one thought left in his mind.

Gwendal... loves me...?

Gwendal didn't break the kiss while loosening his grip and gently lay the lavender-haired man on the bed. He shifted to lie on top of Günter, and only then noticed something. Two things, actually; that he still had his pants on, and that Günter was hard.

"...Well," he whispered against the other's lips. He slipped his hand lower on Günter's body, stopping to caress the mazuku's thigh momentarily. "I suppose that it was an interesting book, in this case," he commented as he moved his fingers upwards just a little and placed them over the other man's erection.

Günter gasped then turned his face away a little. He was feeling embarrassed enough already. "...It's not... that... the book... was... interesting, but... it's... because you kissed me earlier. I can't help it..."

"I guess I should finish what I started then since this is my fault," Gwendal said, sounding somewhat amused. "But before that..." He moved away, got up from the bed and went to lock the door. "Anissina was right, and I hate interruptions."

"But... didn't you say that it was too early to..." Günter mumbled, suddenly finding himself unable to stop staring at Gwendal as the man returned to the bed and sat on the rim, proceeding to remove the rest of his clothes. He just couldn't turn his eyes away from the dark-haired mazoku's strong, half-naked form, and he felt flushed all over again.

"That was earlier. Right now, I don't care. I..." Gwendal paused while dropping his boots next to the bed. His pants joined the other discarded garments a moment later. "...I... want you. Need you."

He moved beside Günter again, and only then did the lavender-haired man realize he had been staring. He would have turned away, but Gwendal placed his hand over his cheek, softly drawing him closer for a light kiss. Günter hated himself for turning so weak whenever Gwendal touched him, but he could only give in to the other man's touch.

Gwendal's hands wandered lower on his lover's body, and he then removed the nightshirt Günter was wearing. Günter froze for a moment then tried to draw the sheets over his body, but the other man stopped him.

"...Don't... You're beautiful."

"But... Gwendal..." Günter whispered. "The lights are on..."

Gwendal shook his head. "And who's here to see you - other than me that is? Don't I have the right to watch you... my lover?"

"You've never watched before," Günter mumbled, his cheeks burning again. "I mean... we've always done it in the darkness before this..."

"Exactly... before. I want to see you this time..." Gwendal answered quietly. "I want this to be perfect..."

He placed a gentle kiss on the other man's lips, then moved a bit lower, nibbling on his lover's jaw. He caressed Günter's skin softly with his fingertips, tracing over the mazoku's smooth chest and abdomen before he found the hard length again. He wrapped his fingers around it and started to stroke cautiously, causing Günter to involuntarily spread his legs a little.

"...Aah... Gwendal...?"

Günter parted his lips as Gwendal kissed him again, this time more passionately than during any of the times they had kissed so far. Günter feared his consciousness was escaping from him; the kiss left him almost delirious, and his skin felt like it was burning.

Gwendal broke the kiss to change his position a little. He moved to lie between the other man's legs, gently pushing them apart some more. He glanced up to check that everything was okay then carefully took the tip of Günter's member into his mouth.

"Mmh..." Günter bit his lip to keep himself from making too much noise. He closed his eyes and shifted on the sheets powerlessly. He searched for something to hold onto and reached to bury his fingers into Gwendal's long hair. Gwendal's lips enveloped his length as the dark-haired man proceeded to take more of the hardness into his mouth, and Günter pressed his lower body up weakly as he was pleasured, needing more.

The other mazoku paused his caresses for a short moment to lean over to the nightstand and to pick a small bottle of oil from the drawer, then returned to what he had been doing. Günter mumbled something quietly as Gwendal stopped for another moment to add some of the oil on his fingers. He drew Günter's leg over his shoulder, then slipped his hand between the lavender-haired man's legs and caressed the sensitive skin cautiously while his fingers searched for a small opening between his lover's buttocks. Upon finding his target, he stopped to rub some oil on the opening then carefully pressed two fingers inside.

"Gwendal...! Ah..." Günter blinked then clenched his eyes shut as the dark-haired man continued sucking on his member while skillfully pressing his fingers against a certain spot. Gwendal knew very well what he was doing; his actions were smooth and controlled, and he was aiming for only one thing - to drive his lover insane with his caresses.

Günter tugged the other man's long hair weakly, needing something to hold onto. He needed Gwendal to stop torturing him and take him now. His senses burned and the last of his strength was leaving him, and the only things that remained were Gwendal's warm lips working on his erection, and the skilled fingers pressing into him, causing him to moan the other man's name silently and to beg for more.

He mumbled something incoherently when Gwendal moved a little. The dark-haired man reached to grab one of the pillows and placed it under the other man's lower back then shifted their position a little, moving to kiss Günter's lower abdomen softly while moving his free hand to where his mouth had been a moment earlier. He advanced upwards on the lavender-haired man's body, caressing every inch of his lover's skin with his lips.

"...Gwen...dal... please... aaah..." Günter mumbled before his voice died again, the rest of his sentence turning into weak whispers of pleasure. Gwendal didn't let him off that easily, however, but continued his caresses for another moment before withdrawing his fingers from fondling the other man and moving away. He pressed a short but warm kiss on Günter's lips then took the oil again and added some on his own member.

Günter looked at his handsome lover, managing to smile weakly. Gwendal returned the smile then adjusted their positions a little more and captured Günter's thighs with his hands. He drew the other man closer, advancing very carefully as he pressed his member into him. Günter strained for a few seconds but then relaxed and wrapped his legs around Gwendal. He clung to the dark-haired man powerlessly, warm tears forming in his eyes. Gwendal thrust deeper, careful to not lose the control but at the same time, feeling quite lost in the lovemaking.

"...I... love you... too..." Günter mumbled, needing to say it. He knew he had heard Gwendal say it to him before, and he knew the feeling was mutual. He just never stopped to think about his own feelings.

"Günter..." Gwendal whispered, barely managing to keep himself from losing all strength when hearing the words. He had wondered about the lavender-haired man's feelings, but it was quite obvious now that they were the same as his own. He leaned in to kiss the other man passionately while holding him in his arms. His body burned with the same need as Günter's, and he moved a little faster now, pressing into the other man.

Günter answered to the thrusts as much as he could in his powerless state. He could really only continue clinging onto Gwendal, letting the other man hold him as they made love. The dark-haired man's length filled him so perfectly that he wanted to cry and never let go. He felt incoherent but so complete in Gwendal's arms.

"...Love you..." Gwendal murmured between their kisses, feeling how his control threatened to escape him any moment now. He stopped his thrusts for a second to slip his hand between them to stroke his lover's member, not that Günter had actually needed that anymore. The lavender-haired man cried out Gwendal's name the moment he was touched, the orgasm consuming him completely.

Gwendal pressed into his lover for a few more times, unable control himself too well. Fortunately he didn't need control anymore; he released a moment later, his mind too lost to even register his own voice whispering Günter's name. Then he just fell on top of his lover, completely spent, and fell asleep for a moment.

He couldn't sleep for too long; his remaining consciousness nagged him to get up and get some water to clean them both. He did so, and then just lay down on the bed and drew Günter into his arms.

Günter opened his eyes after a while then blinked a couple of times and reached to turn off the lamp. He then pressed his head against Gwendal's shoulder, smiling to himself tiredly.

"So..." he whispered. "Now what?"

Gwendal smiled gently to the darkness. "Now? Now we really try to do this relationship thing right, I would guess. Since we apparently were both somewhat unsure about what this was about... We try this for real, Günter. I know what I feel and know that you feel the same. It's only a matter of time before everyone hears about us anyway, so might just as well go for it. I have no reason to deny that we're together."

Günter nodded slightly then shifted his position a little and close his eyes. "Neither... do I..." he mumbled before falling asleep. His lover lay awake for a moment longer, stroking the silky lavender hair tenderly before drifting off to sleep as well.

Neither of them cared of the darkening night or paid attention to the fact that it had started to rain outside.

END.

Author's notes:

Damn you, sis, for giving me the idea for this. So here I go, writing a fic based on an anime when I thought I'd never do that. Still... pr0n good!

Originally written because someone in the Kyou Kara Maou LJ community wanted to see smut with these two. Well, Gwendal and Günter are perfect together - and my favorite KKM pairing - so why the hell not?
