Beyond Life

Snow

It had been snowing all night. Half of L'Renouille seemed to have stopped; only the ones who were fanatic about working, or rather, had been in the office since yesterday anyway, were at their workplaces. Culgan Black was indeed no exception. He had been at the office since yesterday, and with the amount of work he had, he wasn't planning on leaving until late in the evening.

His icy-blue eyes scanned the street shortly as he exited Jeffrey's cafe carrying a paper bag with a couple of sandwiches in one hand, and two cups of coffee in the other. Sure, he could have sent his secretary to get said items, but... He smiled just a little as he thought about the reason he was willing to leave his office for just a moment. The reason had been sitting in the lobby when he had gone out... He then sighed, his thoughts returning to work. There was still so much to do today.

There wasn't much traffic, so he crossed the street - only to feel the cold sting of a snowball hitting him accurately on the shoulder when he got to the front door of Daviaux, Caswell & Associates. He glanced to his side, irritated - and found himself looking at Seed's grinning face.

"Got you," the redhead said, another snowball in his hands.

"Do you mind?" Culgan said, appearing displeased. "I don't want any more snow on my clothes than necessary."

Seed looked pouty. "Aw come on. You're no fun, Culgan. There's snow, and it's pretty. Are you saying you're not enjoying this at all? Oh wait... this is you we're talking about... of course you're not."

Culgan shrugged then sighed. "Would you at least open the door for me?"

"Fine..." the younger man tossed his extra snowball away and stepped to the door. He opened it and bowed mockingly. "Anything else, my lord?"

The silver haired man stepped in, then glanced over his shoulder. "And what are you doing outside anyway? You're still in uniform, and on duty."

"I'm taking a break; Nancy's taken over my spot for now," Seed answered as he followed his lover across the entrance hall. "Long enough break to stalk you for a moment..." he added, smirking. "I know you got coffee for me too, and besides, somebody has to come see that you don't work too hard..."

"Oh?" Culgan answered as he entered the elevator. "Trying to distract me, aren't we, Mr. Security Guard?"

Seed stepped into the elevator as well, grinning. He waited till the doors closed, then took the bag with the sandwiches from the older man. "Maybe I am."

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

The redhead's grin turned wicked. "I can strip off the uniform," he said, throwing his arms around Culgan's neck. He moved closer for a quick kiss; that's all he had time for before the elevator stopped in another floor and he had to move away before the person who entered saw them like that.

They rode the elevator in silence; the outsider left a couple of floors later, and they reached the floor with Culgan's office after another moment.

The silver-haired man smirked as the door opened. "Then maybe... I'll have to take that offer."

Lina watched the two man enter Culgan's office; she then decided it would be better if she went to get some breakfast. Her boss would obviously be unavailable for a moment.

END.

Author's notes:

A snippet request I got from a friend when I offered to write something in my LJ back sometime in December 2004. Just a cute little thing with these two. Obviously set after the fic itself.
