Beyond LifeWorkThe monitors showed various rooms around the building. Seed idly browsed around the cameras, checking around to see that nothing was out of ordinary. Nothing rarely was; it was 3 AM, and there weren't too many people in the office building at that hour, save for his guard partner in the control room, and a couple of workaholic lawyers. He grinned then and stopped browsing, noticing one of the workaholics on the corridor of the twelfth floor, getting coffee from the machine there. Culgan was fanatic enough about work and often worked all night, and if Seed was in night shift, he regularly stayed at work. The redhead certainly didn't mind; it usually meant Culgan would go home with him, and besides, it did give him something to look at while at work. The silver-haired man returned to the library in the same floor, and Seed switched to another camera. He watched as Culgan returned to the desk, set the coffee cup down carefully on the other edge of the table and started going through some law books he had piled on the table. Seed smiled to himself, and left that camera on. He learned back in his chair and just watched. Culgan's work was so organized, and it never ceased to amaze the redhead. The older man searched through a large book, then wrote down something on a notepad, continuing with the book for a moment before switching to another one, apparently to look for the reference he had just written down. They said Culgan was the best researched the law firm had; Seed didn't really get the law stuff, but this was his Culgan. Of course he was the best. Seed grinned to himself, concentrating on the table Culgan was using for working. He had sneaked into the library a couple of times, just to bother the silver-haired man for a moment. Culgan would sometimes get slightly annoyed - but sometimes, they had ended up doing something else than just work on that table. Frank, who had been Seed's guard partner the last time that had happened, had later told him to warn him beforehand; apparently he had not wanted to see what had been going on in the library and had unfortunately ended up checking that camera. Seed had laughed, and promised he would warn; Frank had replied that it would actually be too much information. He considered using the usual 'need to check something around the places' excuse and go check on Culgan, or perhaps something else, but he then remembered Culgan had talked something about an important case coming up soon. If the research was for that one, Seed knew that the older man would be quite annoyed if he showed up as a distraction. He decided he could settle for just watching, too. Watching and admiring how his loved one worked and did the research so efficiently. He knew so well how passionate Culgan got about things. Many things, really. Seed grinned and leaned closer to the screen, silently cursing the fact that the picture wasn't clearer. He could operate the camera a little though, and he made it turn a little, to get a better view of the man. Culgan was concentrated on his book now, and Seed imagine what it felt to walk behind the older man, to steal that book away from him and then force himself onto the silver-haired man's lap. Culgan would of course look at him and frown, but that expression would change soon when Seed would kiss him. The redhead sighed then as Culgan suddenly stood, moving away from the camera's view to retrieve another book from the bookshelves. He grinned then when the older man returned a moment later and placed the book on the table, leaning over to pick up his reading glasses - and then stopped. Seed moved even closer to the screen, trying to see what the silver-haired man was up to - and Culgan then turned slowly, looked directly at the camera, and folded his arms. The look on the older man's face was somehow scolding, and Seed felt his face turn red... And also realized the security department phone was ringing. "...Yeah, uh, everything okay, Frank?" He replied hastily. "There something wrong in the equipment over there?" The other man asked. "You know, you might want to check the door; one of the workaholics wants to come in and has been ringing the doorbell for at least a minute." "Ah..." Seed glanced at the door, then got up from his chair. "I, uh, things are fine. I was just checking something from the monitors and didn't notice... I'll get it." He closed the phone but muttered a curse under his breath as he heard Frank laughing. The elevator arrived to the ground floor and stopped; Culgan stepped out with a half-smile on his face, intending to go see if certain security guard would want to join him for a cup of coffee. He had been drinking the normal stuff for all night himself and was really craving for something from Jeffrey's place, and besides, Seed's shift would be over in few minutes anyway and proper breakfast sounded quite good. He froze the moment he stepped out though, and moved to the side, then just stood there by the wall. That certain red-haired security guard happened to be standing in the middle of the lobby, doing his best to explain something to a man in a delivery company's uniform. Culgan watched, curious. Watching Seed do his work had always amused him, and the situation looked interesting. The redhead appeared rather frustrated, and the delivery person apparently wanted to argue about something. He caught a few words over the lobby; the delivery guy was insisting he had to take the documents to someone in the building right now, and Seed wasn't having it. Normal security procedure, Culgan knew; no one would go past the guards without proper identification and security clearance. The person the documents were for wasn't apparently in the building, and the guy kept saying he would just drop the papers to the office. Seed said no, that could not be done, then suggested that he could keep the papers at the security desk and have them given to the recipient when he came in. The delivery person insisted they were to only be given personally, or left to the person's office. Culgan shook his head. This wouldn't end well; Seed would lose patience soon and either throw the guy out, or kill him. Culgan smirked, hoping for the former option. It did please him somehow, though, to watch Seed act like that. It reminded him of thinks he didn't really remember, and it made things... Somehow more right. He knew this Seed. It was the man he had loved all his life, and even before that, after all. He also happened to know perfectly well what was under that guard uniform. Culgan grinned in his mind, then caught himself before his thoughts wandered too much and stopped to give a short morning greeting to one of the firm's lawyers who was waiting for the elevators. He exchanged a couple of words with the man before he was left alone, and continued to watch the redhead continue arguing with the delivery person. Culgan had the feeling Seed had been staring at him again last night. He just got those feelings sometimes, that someone was watching him, but there was nobody there in the library with him, except for the security camera - and he knew too well who happened to have access to security cameras. The other guards wouldn't stop to look at the one lawyer who happened to prefer sitting in the library all night for too long. A certain redhead did, however, probably a lot more often than Culgan noticed him doing it. Little did Seed know. Culgan happened to like watching him as well, and he often stopped for a while before stepping out of the elevator to just watch Seed sit there behind the security desk, minding his own business. This was even better, Culgan concluded, as he watched the redhead finally lose it and yell at the delivery guy, telling him that he had exactly two options: to leave the papers there with the guards, or sit there and wait for whoever the documents were for to show up. Seed could get quite scary sometimes, and apparently the delivery guy wasn't feeling like trying to push him any further, but just gave up his documents finally and escaped. Seed's replacement had showed up at some point, and the redhead handed the documents to him, instructing about whom they were for. He then turned and apparently was planning on wandering over to the security locker room to cool off, but then noticed Culgan walk closer. "Problems?" Culgan asked, giving the younger man a calm smile. "Eh," Seed mumbled. "What a moron. Wanted to go over there in the restricted areas by himself and wouldn't have it about our security regulations. I'm just doing my job here and all, and then I get all those f-" Culgan took a step closer and raised his hand, placing a finger over Seed's lips. "I see. People like that are unfortunate, but as you said, you're just doing your job. And things are fine now, hmm? How about some breakfast?" The younger man sighed, but after looking at the silver-haired man's calm expression, he couldn't help but to grin slightly. "All right, why not," he replied. "And you're paying," he added, a little more cheerfully now, then went for the door. Culgan smiled and followed after the redhead, shaking his head. It wasn't like he wasn't the one who always paid for breakfast.
