PracticeBy Lady HarkenThere was little William could do when it came to this part of their practice. He sighed as he saw his student drop the sword for the third time today, and he heard Hugue swear under his breath as the younger man stared at his right hand. If it had actually been a technical problem, William could've fixed it, but he felt somewhat helpless when it came to understanding the younger man's feelings, particularly the frustration Hugue felt when he once again found himself unable to finish the moves he was intending to execute. William just knew it wasn't a technical problem; the issues was with Hugue himself. Getting used to the strength and precision the cybernetic arms provided to him wasn't an easy task, and the blond swordsman just wished to learn everything now when William kept saying it would take time, patience, and even more practice. Nonetheless, Hugue was a fast learner. While he had had skill with sword before, the technique William was teaching him was different. The blond swordsman was quickly getting accustomed to the sword William had made for him, though, and Hugue had skill at adapting his own ability to William's teaching. The young man would be good, William could tell. He'd be as good as the professor was himself; perhaps even better, considering Hugue's arms would provide him with speed even vampires would have problems matching. It would just take time, and the young man needed to get over certain psychological issues. He was about to say something but the younger man stepped forward and picked up the sword again, giving his master an intense stare. If there was something Hugue wasn't lacking, it was passion and determination. He gave the younger man a nod and stepped forward with his own weapon for another round of their practice matches. A few more rounds today, maybe, he decided. Hugue of course would've wanted to practice for hours, more than William had time or energy for. The Professor did have experience on his side, though, and Hugue still had a long way to go before he'd surpass him. A moment of the older man being distracted by his thoughts was all Hugue needed, and with the superior strength his arms offered, the blond had no problems removing the sword from his master's hands. William just grinned, shrugged and pretended it was nothing, but as Hugue stepped back and stared at his master disapprovingly, the older man sighed and picked up his sword. There was no point letting the younger man win that easily. As soon as he took a battle stance, Hugue frowned and stared at his arm for a moment before flexing his fingers. William stood back and was about to suggest they'd quit for the day, but he didn't get around to it as his student stepped forward and prepared for an attack. The Professor smiled and nodded to the younger man then raised his sword, preparing himself again. Hugue went for his attack quickly and William actually had to make proper effort to block it. It wasn't enough; the strength of the younger man's blow was too much for him and he lost his sword again. Well, at least this time Hugue couldn't claim he had lost on purpose, William thought as he raised his hands to admit defeat. When the younger man really put his mind into it and forgot about worrying about his arms, he was really something. He nodded and was about to suggest they head off for a shower and such, but he suddenly found himself on his back on the floor, and the younger man staring at him with a demanding look. At the point when Hugue started undoing his master's clothes, William just smiled and let him. The younger man had to take his frustrations on something, after all. It was a good thing nobody else used the practice area.
