ReactionBy Lady HarkenBeing used to Abel Nightroad's antics was one thing, but ending up here was something else. It didn't mean Tres was about to show any reaction to their current distress, or to the fact that Abel was freaking out and pacing around the small area, fussing about their predicament. The situation was simple, in the end. They had been investigating a possible hideout of vampire criminals, and this house had turned out to be one. It also happened that renegade vampires had as a backup plan placed explosives in the building, and they were set off as the vampires escaped. The two AX operatives were stuck in the cellar where they had fallen after the floor had given in when the explosives had gone off. The cellar fortunately had a couple of pillars that had held, and Abel and Tres ended up stuck under what remained of the house. Miraculously, they were both unharmed, with only their robes covered in dust. This of course did not stop Abel from flailing around in the cramped space. "We aren't stuck under that tower corner, are we?!" He ranted. "We are aren't we? It might cave in any minute now, and the vampires managed to escape too! They'll make it out there to terrorize some innocent townspeople, and we're meanwhile stuck here and-" "Negative," Tres cut in, speaking in his usual matter-of-fact tone. "The last message I received from Iron Maiden indicated that Sword Dancer is heading towards the area. With our mission failing, Iron Maiden will direct him to the targets." The tall priest didn't seem too impressed. "That's beside the point!" Abel complained. "We can go catch the vampires later! But no wait we can't, what if the rest of the building collapses on us? We could die! See, it's starting!" Abel pointed to the pillar at their side where some smaller rocks crumbled down. "It's just a matter of time until that pillar gives in! We'll die...! Oh goodness, I haven't even made a will, what am I going to..." Tres' expression didn't change. "Negative. We are not going to die. My calculations indicate that my body would be fine after some repairs should the building collapse. It's also 99 percent certain that you would survive if you used your Kresnik powers. Therefore, it's..." "Don't even joke about that!" Abel cut in. He was about to add something else, but a couple of more rocks dropped from the wall and he jumped away. "This can't possibly end well, and you're just making calculations." The white-haired priest was obviously making things sounds worse than they were, but any freaking out was not about to bring out a reaction from the cyborg. "Positive. I am stating the facts." Tres paused for a second and looked at the last few rocks that had fallen. "There is also a high chance that we'll be rescued before that happens. Your reaction to the situation leaves me with two choices." "And what would those be?" The taller man asked, not appearing impressed at all. Tres stared back at him. "Taking into consideration the calculations stated, there is no reason for you to react the way you are doing. I draw the conclusion you are most likely hyperventilating, in which case out of the two options, which are to cover your mouth or to knock you out until we are rescued. I will have to pick option 1." He suddenly grabbed Abel by the collar, drew him down to his level then kissed him. Abel's eyes widened and he tried to pull away at first, but then just settled into letting Tres do as he pleased, closing his eyes. It was a nice distraction from the currect situation, and at this point he had to give in. Tres rarely did things like this, and he couldn't exactly start resisting now, especially when it was starting to feel nice. The cyborg's fingers dug into the other priest's long hair, and Abel felt himself flushing. Really, when Tres decided to take the lead, it was rather nice... That of course made it perfect timing for Sister Kate to show up, or rather, her hologram. The image flickered, somewhat unclear, but it was clear enough that one could see her annoyed expression. "Here I was fearing you'd be in trouble or something," she said, rolling her eyes. "However it appears you're doing quite fine." Before Abel managed to start explaining, she gave them a glare then pointed at the back wall. "And would you two go to that corner over there so we can get you out of here? Honestly, you two..." Tres simply stepped away and nodded. "Positive. The rescue is appreciated. Father Nightroad, it is recommended you move out of the way as well." "You-" Abel stared at the cyborg then at Kate's image. "And we weren't doing anything! Tres claims I was hyperventilating and then he started to-" "Save your excuses for the Cardinal and step back," Kate cut in. "While I'd love to hear you out, unless you trust William's genius digging robots that much, I'd move if I was you. Seriously, I don't even know where he got that strange mecha from." In that instant, Abel hid behind Tres. The cyborg stood still while something started making noise outside of the building ruins. "The Professor's construct for this kind of purpose should work on about 70% chance," he stated. Before Abel managed to comment on the matter, though, Tres continued. "According to the statistics, this means it should be fine. If it isn't, we will remain here and continue from earlier. Unless," he paused. "You would prefer continuing at the headquarters after we make it back." If Abel had had anything to say before, he certainly didn't now.
