DutyBy ElminaIt was cold, and Kresnik stirred, slowly waking up from his incoherent sleep. The bed was certainly comfortable, but he was naked and not under the sheets. There was one somewhere near his feet, and he drew it over himself, shivering a little. His head hurt, and he remembered drinking something, and then... nothing? There was someone next to him, and he turned to look. The room was mostly dark, but he recognized the profile; it was Captain Lambda. The other man was asleep, and Kresnik didn't dare to move much in fear or waking him up. He noted that Lambda was also naked, and quickly turned away. What was going on here? Since there was nothing else he could think of, he concentrated on trying to recall what had happened. Wine. They had both been drinking wine, and he squeezed his eyes shut, suddenly uncomfortable. It had only been a couple of glasses, he was sure of it, but... Why was he here? There was no reason why he would... Yes there was, now that he gave it a little thought. The reason was simply the fact that the captain had asked him to come to bed, and he had not refused. He was a little inexperienced when it came to what had happened afterwards, but he certainly wasn't here unwillingly. He felt embarrassed at the thought even though Lambda had surely known what he was doing. This was just somehow... improper, and Kresnik wondered if he should have declined. No; he could never do that when Lambda asked him to do something, but... Was this really part of his duties? If it wasn't, he would think of it as such, he decided. He refused to believe the captain would do something like that without a good reason, and as long as there was one, this was just another part of his job. He was completely loyal to Brionac, after all. That conclusion was satisfactory enough, and he yawned, tired. Sleep sounded good. Besides, duty or not, it had felt quite... pleasant.
END.
